Get the inside scoop on Rod Wave’s influence on Bossman Dlow’s choice to join with Alamo Records.
Rod Wave was a major factor in BossMan Dlow’s choice to join with Alamo Records, as he recently discussed his journey to do so.
The “SportsCenter” hitmaker recently talked about his desire to play basketball, his current spat with DJ Vlad, and his trademark flow in an interview with The Breakfast Club. He also promoted his new album, Dlow Curry. One of the most juicy details he revealed was that he almost signed with Gucci Mane before deciding on Alamo Records.
“There was a small misunderstanding when Gucci sought to sign me,” Dlow clarified.
He blamed the lost chance on poor communication, especially between the lawyers involved in the transaction. “I guess I was not really communicating with him,” he continued.
BossMan Dlow also disclosed that he was negotiating with YFN Lucci’s label, Think It is A Game.
He remarked, “They tried to sign me, but you know, it did not work out.” Soon after these unsuccessful talks, Dlow found himself signing a contract with Alamo Records, albeit it is still unknown why the transaction did not work out. Dlow cited Rod Wave’s success as a key consideration when asked why he selected Alamo.
“I was admiring Rod Wave at the moment since he was over there,” Dlow remarked. “All right, he is doing fine and is not whining,” I said.
BossMan Dlow’s relocation to Alamo also coincides with an especially happy moment, as Rod Wave’s most recent album, Last Lap, sold almost 137,000 copies in its first week and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. He continued by stressing that Alamo’s strategy fit his requirements for a label.
He went on to say, “They were coming correct too.”
Ultimately, considering that Gucci just purged his 1017 Records artist list, Dlow might have escaped a bullet. Nonetheless, reflecting on the squandered opportunity with Gucci Mane, Dlow said he was at a different point in life during those talks.
“I was so deep in the streets at the time, dude, that it seemed like the money did not even matter,” he said. “I am aware that I am no longer with Gucci. The talk was not appropriate, but I know I am going to lose it.
