Taylor Swift Gives $1 Million to the American Heart Association in Her Father’s Honor

Taylor Swift is once again turning the spotlight toward generosity as the holiday season approaches. The global pop icon has donated a remarkable $1 million to the American Heart Association, reinforcing her long-standing commitment to causes close to her heart. The organization confirmed the contribution on Tuesday (Dec. 23), noting that the donation was made in honor of Swift’s father, Scott Swift, who underwent heart surgery earlier this year.

According to the American Heart Association, the generous gift will directly support its ongoing efforts to combat heart disease and stroke, conditions that continue to impact millions of families across the United States.

Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association, praised the singer’s contribution, emphasizing that its significance goes far beyond the monetary value. She highlighted how Swift’s family experience with cardiovascular disease mirrors that of nearly half of American adults, helping bring much-needed awareness to heart health. Brown added that Swift’s personal connection to the cause encourages prevention, healthier lifestyle choices, and greater attention to controllable risk factors — ultimately helping more people lead longer, healthier lives.

Brown also drew a powerful parallel between Swift’s iconic “heart hands” gesture and the American Heart Association’s own symbol of compassion and unity. She expressed hope that, together, people can raise their collective “heart hands” to honor loved ones affected by heart disease and inspire meaningful, lasting change for future generations.

The 14-time Grammy winner has previously opened up about her father’s health journey. During an appearance on her now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast in August, Swift shared candid and touching details about caring for her dad following his quintuple bypass surgery, which addressed five blocked arteries. With her signature humor, she recalled how Scott attempted to hand out guitar picks to hospital staff immediately after surgery — despite being dressed in a hospital gown with no pockets. Swift reflected on the emotional role reversal, noting how the man who once built playsets and cribs for her was now relying on her to assemble shower chairs and walkers.

Swift’s charitable efforts didn’t stop there. On the same day, she also donated another $1 million to Feeding America, continuing her pattern of supporting organizations that address critical social issues. Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, described Swift’s contribution as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together to fight hunger, especially during the holiday season.

Adding to an already eventful day, Swift’s donations coincided with the release of the final two episodes of her The End of an Era docuseries on Disney+. Once again, the superstar demonstrated that her influence extends far beyond music — using her platform and resources to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
